How do I calculate a percentage of a number?
Divide the percent by 100 and multiply by the number. 15% of 250 = 0.15 × 250 = 37.5.
How do I calculate percentage change?
Subtract the old value from the new value, divide by the old value and multiply by 100. From 80 to 100 is a 25% increase.
Why is a 20% increase then a 20% decrease not the same number?
The decrease applies to the larger, increased value. 100 → 120 → 96.
